Pro Street Final Mock near lane
Pro Street

Jimmy Mock, Yorba Linda, CA. 1951 Chevrolet .071 6.834 215.89
Win Mike Moran, Taylor, Mich. 1999 Monte Carlo .079 6.472 233.76
This is what its all about! The big dogs are pulling to the line. We could see some big numbers, but maybe not. Both drivers with big smokey burnouts. There is no wind and the smoke is just hanging over the starting line. West vs East. Mock is in first. They are close off the line but Mock shakes hard and has to pedal it. Moran made another great pass with big MPH and that's what it's all about. The East Coast man will take the win back to Michigan. That is all she wrote folks. If you have never been to this race mark your calendars for next year.

Outlaw Street
WIN Dale Moznik, Surrey, B.C., .028 7.332 193.29
Spiro Pappas, Glenview, Ill .027 9.557 92.89
The boys from BC having been going rounds, all they need is one more to take the win. Oh my. Moznik makes a great pass and that's all it took. Pappas lauched hard and something went away at half track and Moznik will take the win and the trophy back to BC. Pappas grenades his drive shaft.

X-Treme Drag Radial
Win Roger Holder, Bakersfield CA, .035 8.332 175.39
Rick Hoyle, Palmdale CA, .180 11.161 82.08
Hoyle's car looked wierd at the start. And it looks like something was wrong with his car. But Holder on the other hand makes a great pass to take home the win. We do have some clean up to do.

Wild Street
Win David Bowman, Freemont CA, .071 7.953 178.10
Manny Figueroa, Moorpark CA, .084 7.949 176.14
It's #1 vs #2 in this match-up. Bowman slaps Manny on the line and that's it. Bowman will take the win with a holeshot victory.

Hot Street
Michael Demayo, West Sunbury, PA, -.020 8.487 158.50
Win Jon Bundrant, Hemet CA, .188 8.382 161.42
Oh man Michael Demayo is red and that is the end of his chance at the win. Jon Bundrant will take the trophy back to Hemet,CA.

Super Index
Win Bart Smith, Las Vegas NV, (8.60) .015 8.611 155.10
Dick Krieger, Henderson NV, (8.60) .027 8.595 156.72
Bart Smith with a great light and has a great run right on the 8.60 dial. Congrats to the hometown team.

Double Index
Joe Bennett, Hemet CA, (10.60) .181 10.547 125.63
Win Jim Caruso, Devore CA, (9.60) .041 9.608 122.07
Caruso is good on the tree and at the top end. Caruso is dead on at the finish and he will take home the trophy and the money.

Open Comp
Win Mike Nordahl, Fremont CA, (10.63) .026 10.668 125.87
Ron DeHoop, Corona CA, (10.55) -.037 10.523 128.08
Oh man Ron DeHoop throws it away on the line. Mike Nordahl is your Open Comp winner this weekend in Las Vegas.

Bracket 1
Jeff Farrar of Las Vegas defeated George Mattie, also of Las Vegas

SANGHA LOOSES CLOSE ONE...MORAN GOES 241!...WILL MOZNIK HAVE SOMETHING FOR PAPPAS???

Pro Street Round 4 (Semi finals)

Win Jimmy Mock .046 6.624 211.10
Dal Sangha .010 6.685 216.65
5:47 p.m. We are down to the semifinals here at the Street Car Super Nationals III. The announcers have started calling Sangha "Double Down Dal" The conditions here are great we should have some big numbers. WOW! Mock has to take the long way down the track and was all over the right lane. Sangha makes great pass but just doesn't have enough to hold off the hard charging Chevy.

Win Mike Moran .014 6.284 241.93
Chuck Samuel .047 6.455 220.55
The winner will be taking on Jimmy Mock in the final. We'll really have an East vs. West match up. As both of these guys are from the Mid-west. WOW! Moran with a picture perfect run and he shows what kind of horsepower he really had. Chuck Samuel had the best view to watch Moran make an awesome pass.

Outlaw

Len Freeman .006 7.686 161.29
Win Spiro Pappas .016 6.865 218.51
Man what another great race. Pappas lays down yet another great pass. He will face Dale Moznik in the final round.

Win Dale Moznik .807 11.445 85.58
Moznik will just take the tree and just coast down thetrack.

We will back for all the final rounds. Look for some big numbers as we go later into the night.

SANGHA TAKES OUT THORNTON...MOZNIK GETS SINGLE TO OUTLAW FINAL!!!
-Reported by Jason Murray

Pro Street Round 3
4:05 p.m. The LVMS team is making the finishing touches to the starting line before we head into this round of Hughes Performance Pro Street. This weekend has been absolutely great. Great weather, great racing and big numbers.

Win Dal Sangha .012 6.701 219.90
Ed Thornton .032 6.769 213.23
Man what a race. Sangha had the light and Thornton was coming on strong. Thornton makes a big move at330ft and then a back fire comes from underneath the hood. Thornton had to pedal it but that wasn't enough. Sangha makes great pass and he moves into the semifinals EH!

Win Mike Moran .008 7.280 228.65
Randy Kay .070 7.292 214.76
The sun is starting to set here in Las Vegas times should get quicker as we move through this session. Man oh Man. It was a pedal fest. Moran huge move towards the wall at the same time in the other lane Kay makes a move. They both push their foot to the floor to try it again and it is the turbo car of Moran that drives around Kay at the top end.

Win Chuck Samuel .055 6.484 219.40
Gil Nevarez Broke
Nevarez has a blower, Samuel is naturally aspirated. Nevarez has some leakage. Nevarez is shut down. Samuel has the single and makes the best of it with a great pass with no tire shake. Samuel throws down yet another 6.40 pass. We have some clean up after Nevarez was pushed back.

Win Mock .122 6.510 219.26
Goforth Broke
4:25 p.m. We get the word to fire our last pair. Something is wrong on Goforth's car. It looks like they can't get the GTO to fire but they are trying to push start it, but that didn't work so that is the end of their weekend. Mock will move on. Mock makes yet another great pass right down Broadway.

Next round pairings are Sangha vs. Mock, Moran vs. Samuel. Mock has lane choice and so does Samuel.

Outlaw Street round 3

Win Dale Moznik .018 7.224 194.55
Mary Blatzell .175 7.415 152.16
Moznik makes a great pass and he will take the win and has a single into the final round. Moznik was trucking down the right lane.

Ron Weems .027 7.207 193.27
Win Spiro Pappas .098 6.818 217.21 WOW!!
Pappas lays down the fastest pass in Outlaw this weekend. Pappas made a great pass and he will most likely have lane choice over Lenn Freeman

Win Len Freeman .118 7.400 190.94

Freeman will face off with Spiro Pappas in the semifinals while Dale Moznik will have the single.

Outlaw Round Two...WOOOHOOO BABY!

Win Dale Moznik .039 7.165 194.97
Rich Zehring .066 7.258 196.13
Moznik is great on the light and has an awesome pass to take the round win. Moznik will face off against Mary Baltzell in the next round.

Sangha's Mustang from Surrey, B.C.

Pro Street Round Two

Win Dal Sangha .006 6.826 205.07

Jeff Dickey .025 6.833 173.78
2:15 p.m. We are about 2hrs behind right now and hopefully we can make up some time. We have a staging duel. Dickey goes in first. Dal looked soft off the line. Dickey was out in front and then BOOM! Sangha goes around him and goes into the 3rd round with a great pass. It sounds like Dickey had some fire at the top end. Driver is ok.

Win - Ed Thornton .039 6.446 222.00
Bob Griffith .092 6.613 213.87
What a race Griffith drifts towards the right lane wall but keeps it off the wall. Thornton makes a huge pass and he kept the car on a straight line from point A to point B.

Win Jimmy Mock .039 6.529 218.76
Clint Hairston .070 8.057 126.42
Jimmy Mock goes towards the wall, but keeps his foot on the pedal and is able to stay out in front of Hairston. Something went away on Hairston's car as he coasted through the top end.

Win Randy Kay .135 6.528 232.99
Dennis Radford -.056 10.440 99.20
Radford is red and that is the end of his weekend. Kay though makes a great pass right down the center of the lane and he moves into the round of eight.

Win Gil Nevarez .270 7.069 163.00
John Mihovetz No Time
Mihovetz rolls the beams. Nevarez was on the RPMs for a long time waiting for Mihovetz. Then Mihovetz rolled through the beams. Nevarez with a little shake off the line then it sounded like he lost the blower belt at about 800ft.

Win Chuck Samuel .043 6.446 220.44
Brad Personett .057 6.492 218.72
What a drag race! They we together all the way to 900ft, that's when Samuel started to pull away. That was close. Samuel makes a great pass as he moves into the next round.

Win Mike Moran .063 6.883 229.78
Trevor Lowe .049 7.222 218.34
Lowe is here from the great NW. Moran is from Michigan. Both drivers have major tire shake. Lowe tried to pedal it but makes a move towards the wall and he has to pedal it again. By then Moran was pulling away and never looked back.

Win Dean Goforth .33 6.469 216.00
Jay Syvertson No Show
Syvertson is a no show for some reason. Goforth will take the win and makes a great pass.

Pairings for next round are. Sangha vs. Thornton, Goforth vs. Mock, Kay vs. Moran, Nevarez vs. Samuel. Make sure to tune back to Horsepowerheaven.com for the latest results from Pro Street.

Moznik advances to round two of Outlaw (all first round results here)
Our results are coming from an associate in the tower who is working the race. Sorry, we can only post what he has time for. Jason will try to send us each round of the northwest entries then all the final rounds.

Frank hammers quickest nitrous Pro Street run in history as SCSN closes in on all time quickest field

Three years ago a confident Chris Blair told HH personally that they were "going after Orlando" in an effort to make the Street Car Super Nationals the biggest and baddest street car race in the world. He figured it would take at least five years, but one might argue that the 2007 event at THE STRIP at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, organized by Mel Roth, owner of the Pacific Street Car Association, may well claim that title right now. Well maybe not, but after what they saw today in Las Vegas it appears only a matter of time.

It's been quite a day at LVMS as the third incarnation of this door car extravaganza completes day one of qualifying. Missoula, Montana's Lee Frank brings his West Coast Pro Mod '07 nitrous Corvette out and not only lays down his best ever time by nearly a tenth, but destroys the west coast Pro Street all time record along with the all time Pro Street nitrous mark with a run of 6.255 at 219.58mph!

Look for the another all-time mark to fall tomorrow as they seek a 32 car field quicker than the 7.002 set in Orlando. Right now they are at 7.13 with a bunch of cars that can go much quicker than that on the outside looking in. Of note, defending champ Vinnie Budano is not here.

Also, Mike Moran did not better his first session number of 6.636/222.25 in that second stanza, but despite an on again, off again pass went through the eyes at an amazing 235mph to claim top speed by a ton!

Just an amazing field of forty entries, 28 of which are in the sixes, many well over 200mph. Six are over 220 including Surrey's Dal Sangha in the number 24 spot with a big 221.20. - not bad for a car built right here in British Columbia.

Other northwest regulars include Jay Syvertson's 6.551/217.70 in the nine hole, The TPR truck of Garrett Richards just ahead of Sangha in 23rd with a fine 6.765/203.86, Trevor Lowe right there in 25 at 6.885/216.24, and Brian Lane's 7.080/158.97 good for 31. It's a great showing for the northwest guys against the best cars on the planet.

In Edelbrock 10.5 Outlaw Street, Spiro Pappas laid down a shocking 6.792 at 212.36 mph, which has to be one of the greatest runs ever in that class, though I understand the rules for this class varies around the country. And right in the thick of it is Surrey's Dale Moznik, his 7.284@188.96 good for sixth in the super competitive class.

A very smooth day at the track according to our source in the tower 'JJ', no accidents, but plenty of big bumber-bashers that resulted in some re-entry carnage. Hopefully somebody has some pics n video to post soon.

We'll keep updating as we can, thanks again to JJ for keeping us posted, and don't forget all the other sites covering this one.

The rumors are true
Due to sickness Jimmy Biggs will not be broadcasting live from Vegas this weekend. Hope he's feeling better soon. It's a big loss, so hopefully the other media people on site will step it up for those of us unable to be there. Though we have direct access to the tower, we don't plan on bugging JJ too much as he and all the others in there have more than enough to do. Guess I'll actually have to get up off my ass this weekend...

Meanwhile over in Pomona
Hoerner still struggling in Pro Stock, Cowie looking good in TAD, but those nitro rides gonna be tuff to beat here. And 'TCS Bobby' rebounds from Vegas and should make this Comp show no problem. I wish I knew what was what in D6 Lucas points competition, but like usual, just can't figure out that points system. Maybe the new era will make this all a bit easier for us numerically challenged individuals, and actually create a bit of excitement for the rest of us going into the final.

Street cars..and trucks...and everything else
Just days away from what will now definitely be the biggest, baddest street car race in the world for 2007, and I'm sittin here on pins n needles wishing I could be there. Even went as far as checking air fares, which weren't bad, but because of SEMA, the hotel situation is downright criminal. So home I'll stay working on a bunch of projects, and hope to watch it online again...unless this rumor is true. Which it probably is after reading a number of Bigg's rants on the forum, many of which made the old Northern Thunder posts seem tame. Very tame. But hey, ya can't dispel what he's accomplished, and he does come from an automotive sales background, so I wish him the best and it'll be fun to see what happens with the site.

Yes the SCSN III should be awesome. Nearly 50 Pro Street entries, buncha ten fives, and all the rest. Good thing they have some bracket classes so one can sometimes take a pee break. Sorry Mark...About the only thing I would love to try at that race sometime is to have a street cruise down the 'other' Strip a night or two before the race starts. They've closed down parts of that street for ricer cars, so why not the real bad boiz?

As for last weekend I guess the Florida folks are not quite as experienced handling rain outs as us wet coasters. Judging from the comments on how it was handled, 2008 down there could be slim, but I've heard it all too many times before and bet half the guys whining now will be back in twelve months. Roth and Blair probably have big smiles on their faces right about now though.

One local team ready to haul down real soon are those fun fellas at Total Performance Racing. Check out the new paint on that big blown Silverado.

LVMS and beyond
Plenty to take in down in the sunny southwest over the next month or so. Next weekend the pros come to town and I know a bunch of locals will be there both spectating and competing. Watch for the unofficial 'B/AA World Finals' that'll feature Bob Marshall of TCS in Langley taking on all the hitters in what should be a great Comp Eliminator race-within-a-race.

Then it's SEMA - the show that's all but impossible to see in five days or less, followed by the Street Car Supernationals at THE STRIP Nov. 1-4 that should feature 50 Pro Street rides of all shapes and sizes goin at it for west coast supremacy. Coming just one week after the Real World Street Nats in Orlando, it's a grand time for doorslammer fans. HH will not be at the race as we simply cannot ad to our already stupid-busy street car schedule. Besides, the race is already covered to death by video crews, most of whom have many more resources than this lil one-man-show.

Look for a number of Northwest racers to attend including Trevor Lowe, Dal Sangha, Brian Lane in a new '63 Corvette Pro Streeter, Trevor Wilms in the former 'bad Bob' El Camino (who will be out with major twin turbo EFI power in '08), The Mozniks Camino, and the TPR troops an dat bad azz pickup. Probably a bunch more, we'll update ya if we get more info.

Beyond that it's banquet time and the last race we know (or care about) being the big Thanksgiving Weekend Bracket Nationals, where else, but LVMS November 21, 22, 23, 24, 25.

Looking even beyond that we very much wanna be back in Vegas early in 2008 for either one of the nitro test session or maybe even the winter PSCA race.

In the meantime we have lots to do both here and the MRP site, so have fun if yur goin to Vegas, Seattle or whatever next week. We'll do our best to keep the updates comin here all winter long.on't bother trying to contact me for anything for the next two weeks. Don't worry about Garlits, as we have a full time house sitter...sorry 'cat sitter' coming in to keep the little fart company.

As for 'your' video or photo project, we're full right up to the time we leave so if you haven't asked by now, wait'll November. As for 'Wicked'...it's been a month since I've touched it, but have a 'plan' to release soon after I get back. Stay tuned.

ATTA BOYS!
Great showing of Canadian HP going rounds down in Vegas! And we will even count the US T-P-R Boyz too ; )

Way to show that there is some real contenders up here in the pacific NW. If you work out the stats between # of Div. 6 racers/other div and see who is going rounds.the 6ers have a damn good average!

Here is to the Pro-Street scene in this neck of the woods making a comeback in the 07/08 season!

Continued from HH
The time I spent web surfing the past two weeks at DRC and nhra.com was mostly spent on trying to find out how the locals were doing in the various classes. Sadly I didn't have all that much to surf for, and on top of it not knowing how it effected Divisional or National points...well you can better understand my enthusiasm towards this past weekend's SCSN in Las Vegas.

I didn't have to worry about points and I actually had some people to cheer for! People I knew. People who were actually going rounds...people who were not really expected to go that many rounds...damn, but it was fun!

Thanks to the considerable efforts of Jason 'JJ' Murray (ya that JJ), a guy who for a while reported for Drag Race Central dot com, HH had the best same day SCSN coverage on the web. Well, yes we didn't cover all the classes until the finals, but overall I am very proud of what we got done. Got done with no pre-race planning. This just came together when I asked LVMS for some results Friday. Next thing I knew JJ was on the phone, on my e-mail like crazy. All this as he worked the computer in the tower for the race! When I asked if any photos were available, track photogs Doug & Becky Kranz and their crew sent everything I requested very quickly. It was a true team effort that was just very satisfying to be a part of.

I will give credit to the boyz at yellowbullet.com for being the elapsed time winners. I gotta tell ya it was a few minutes from when I read on their board that Moznik had won before I got confirmation from JJ. I wanted so bad to post it, but knowing the rather radical nature of the YB posters had to wait just to make sure.

Then again, I could have posted the actual results in Pro Street and Outlaw a couple of hours before they actually ran when Dragin Don Murray phoned me and predicted the outcome right down to Pappas breaking in the final. I think Donny should buy a lottery ticket today.

As for 'our guys' in Vegas, they all did great, they all qualified, but two really stand out. Dal Sangha and Roy Moznik. Both teams have come from the streets of the lower mainland to reach the very top level of the sport, and have made a lot of locals very proud indeed. Hopefully this is the catalyst that sends street car racing to new levels in the Pacific Northwest. We have world class quality, all we need is some more quantity.

Though the Moznik Brothers won, I have to begin with Sangha. Not being there, and not yet talking to anybody is tough, but his numbers speak for themselves. Over 220, topping out at 221 mph...running his best times ever...going to the final four at the biggest race the left coast has ever seen, against some of the best in the world...taking out west coast legend Ed Thornton in the quarter finals...having the unbelievable luck of getting the first round win when number one qualifier Lee Frank fails to stop at the scales after Sangha red lgihts beside him...but maybe most surprising of all were his lights from that first round on. Never known as a 'leaver' by any stretch, the little built-in-BC Mustang had some of the best lights in the class save for winner Moran. Obviously these turbo dudes are getting that part of the equation sorted out, something the blower and nitrous guys have rarely had to concern themselves with.

A huge congratulations to Dal and his team as they come off the greatest weekend in northwest Pro Street history.

And then there was that blue El Camino. Rumor was they spent four days installing a new Fulton nitrous motor just for this race, and ended up winning the biggest bash against the baddest west coat players, and running their best numbers ever. One could say they backed into it (those east coast guys), but like a famous Floridian Donald Glenn Garlits once said "Days and years from now nobody'll care how ya won, just WHO won".

Talk about a team who has struggled. From the days when the blue car came out together with the shoebox, the brothers Moznik never gave up through thick and thin. This morning they awaken champions, and you can bet that long tow home is gonna be a breeze.

When we heard Trevor Lowe was going to Vegas, we had a good feeling. Here was a guy who has already proven himself in the Pro Mod ranks entering his first ever 'street car' race. In typical fashion, the big black Camaro stepped up gradually and ended up qualified number seven against some of the biggest names in the sport. Unfortunately their day ended early, but you can bet they opened some southwest eyes bigtime. Will they run any other such races? If the money is there, bet on it.

Then there was big Jay qualifying way up there and going a couple of rounds before breakage set in. This boy's on track, watch out in '08. And how about Brian Lane with an all new car? Running sixes first time out, you know he'll be there next year. And those fun-loving boys from Total Performance Racing. It don't matter what happens these guys just keep on smiling and working hard. The new truck looked great and ran real hard. Congrats to every damn one of 'em.

What this all boils down to is we're on the eve of what could well be the biggest year of street legal drag racing ever in the Northwest. Track managers setting up their 2008 schedules had better pay attention as I already know every single one of these guys has a standing invitation to every PSCA and WCHR event next year, and it would be criminal to loose them to that. Don't laugh as with a strong Canadian dollar they may well head south lots.

Both Pro Street and Outlaw look great for the future and performances such as we saw the past four days prove the Northwest has a bunch of racers who can go anywhere and win. Anywhere.

And it's only gonna get better thanks to what all these people did at what could well be called the best street car race in the world at the best drag strip in the world.

That's as good as it gets fellas. Well done, thanks for what you all did , and have a safe trip home!

Hopefully somebody can get the video of the race and set up some kinda party for these guys in the new year...hmmm.
