Rick Nuci wailed on this bitchin' Midnight Mistress Anglia back in the days when SUPER Gas WAS!
Quarterback Sneak. Now appearing on that 'gag me with a nurfin' iron' Motorsport Madness on TNN, the former NFLer did sorta ok in the nitro ranks in the late 80s.
I'm not sure, but think that's a'92 behind Bill Edwards on this hard launch. The Sumas, Wa. nice guy is still out thrashing with son Bill Jr. in an alky coupe.
Love him or hate him, a guy who someday you'll probably tell your great grand kids you saw win a world championship. Forget that boring stuff and brag you heard one of his infamous year-end banquet speeches! Ferd is about the only person as 'personable' as Ruth. He'll dump all over me for saying that, but 'characters' are hard to find nowadays.
I finally had the pleasure of meeting the Leerkamp boys just a short while ago. I can hear Sr. now: "sure, she sorta picked the wheels up a bit".
Nick Nicholson ran this butt-cool Mopar.
Speaking of cool Chryslers, these Sacto bruds still run this car, between fixing trucks.
As an old Van Isle fella, I knew Ray Andrews as a neighbor back in the 60's when he used to park the Ireland and Walton shoebox on the street in front of his house. Seen here up against maybe the most famous roadster ever from Div. 6. I can asure you that one of the people I miss most from not being at the drags is Bruce Flodin.
Jeez, I dunno, but if this IS Mike Scott, he's one of the first real bike dragsters ever around here.
Ok, ok...what do you say about Stan Sipos? I hung with him for awhile in the late 70s, and saw him do alot of stuff. I'd better stop there. Here's his short-lived record-holding C/D.
Carlson gave me a great caption for this: "Now where'd I put my lighter" Tarzan was as familiar a face at S.I.R. as there has ever been. You can just hear him DARING Scott Hammock to make the first move! The 'Zan' stories are legendary, maybe one day I'll tell my favorite and invite your input. THAT should be interesting!
Too many of the newbies don't know all the cool shit Turner has said and done over the decades. I'm a major closet fan of the big guy.
Ya, even Rock brought in Nitro cars for the Winston. Earl "The Likable Logger" Whiting of Centralla, Wa. never made a huge splash on the Top Fuel world however. He later went on to run an equally not-so successful NASCAR team and even tried to build a strip alongside I5 between Seattle and Portland. Note Ernie Hall in the background. So there it is people. Hope it was worth the wait. USE YER BACK BUTTON TO...GO BACK.
