Let's Huff Some Nitro eh? 10.18.98

Again this is all from memory, so please excuse any errors or incomplete names etc:

Just as we walk up to the stands what to my wonderous senses does appear? The Speedsport Roadster just pushing down. The Optura is not ready, and I see an amazing opening shot pass right before me. It would have been good...reeeeal good...trust me. Then again, that it was the first car I ever saw fire and run here will be a lasting personal memory.

First up was Top Fuel. With Frey announcing I find it was very nice. Despite his detractors, I have seen him do some wonderful things for sportsman racers. His knowledge of things nostalgia is also good, so he fit right in well...for me anyway.

Now comes a problem I have been dreading for weeks. I'm sorry, but I just don't think I have the time to search down all the names and times of all the photos below. The only place I have seen anything resembling the round-by-round results was on Header Flames where CC posted them in a message. Now since that would take an excessive amount of time to search down (and cause I know somebody will surely point me to a page where this stuff may well already reside) this page comes to you with little decent info. Feel free to fill in the blanks by writing in.

Race number one. Round number one.

Race 2 Rnd 1

The small-block Chevy car nearly running the first five second front-motored nitro bowtie pass in history. Smoked to a 6.02 I believe.

Dunlap and ...

?

...ran a late (or maybe no) chute 6.47/215.10 license pass.

Hilites of Jr. Fuel...It IS Jr. Fuel right??

Fiats and Slingshots...Ah that 7.50 class is neat!

Somebody has to fill us in on this bad, bad, BAD Pro Nostalgia roadster...it IS Pro Nostalgia right???

AA/Gas first round runner-up Steve Woods broke, but got a big hand from the HFers on the tow down.

Vette was not the quickest one here, but ran great, looked like a real car, and laid down hellacious burnouts!

Hey is that....naaa, can't be. Not down here...Geez, I think it is. Wow is that really Steve Evans...

This guy's Garlits shirt helped him win the first annual HH/GQ best dressed contest. 100% BIG...no chit.

Still to come: Round number two from the other side...lots more pit stuff...we find the flag...and Ski too. NextPage
