Hot Rods California Style 10.18.98

Again this is all from memory, so please excuse any errors or incomplete names etc:

As I pulled myself away from the photo tent we passed by another that had this sign atop it. Inside was some company selling more drag race/hot rod videos than I had ever seen in one place. I thought the prices were a bit steep, so that elusive copy of Funny Car Summer will have to wait.

As there were now plenty of folks wandering around, I thought it time to do some stuff for all the hot rodders who sometimes surf over to this site. I'm not the best at identifying old cars, but here is a good overall look at just a very few of the hundreds of rods on display throughout the pits...plus a few race thingies thrown in for fun.

Mopar lovers were drooling over this!

Over at the same booth that featured the posters, were a group of the neatest nostalgia drag race models this young buck has ever seen.

I dunno if this was ever a 'real' car, but the SWB Shelby was kinda cool anyway.

Unfinished winged Austin showed mucho potential.

These two together just screamed "take a picture"!

'39 Buick was for sale at $17,500.

Now THIS is a hot rod!

Maybe the coolest thing in the pits was this 'Stude-on-Trailer'. I had to park myself here quite a while before getting a shot without a bunch of people around it. And ya, it was a 392 under that little huffer.

As you can see, we are now in the stands...guess what the view is like looking the opposite direction? Go here to see!
