Rain Delays But Does Not Dampen MRP Oldtime ActionDay one of the Langley Loafers B.C. Oldtime Drags is in the books, after an early morning rain delay. Over 200 pre 1970 cars gathered in the Mission Raceway Park Pits for a day of good old fashioned drag racing. All cars got two hits as at 5:30pm the show and shine cars came out onto the track for that portion of the program. Under cloudy skies and muggy air we had some great action, some of which you will see below. Racing gets under way at 9am tomorrow morning and don't forget to bring the mosquito stuff as they are still out in force at the riverside facility. The track had plenty of it's famous bite as one racer found out today. Out with a new Ford motor in his Willys, George Criddle stood it up on the bumper (just as your intrepid photographer was 'fixing' his new camera), so if anyone out there has a video or still of the incident, please feel free to pass it along for all of us to enjoy. In the meantime we got some funs stuff:
Very slick '56 ran a 9.61/141.07
Harry Lockerbee went 9.63/141.59 in his street car.
Glen Braid ran a pair of 8ohs in street legal Acadian.
Stu Eggen was out in former Bill Phillips car
Mission's favorite slingshot is Brian Gailings very nostalgic Jr. Fueler as it ALWAYS runs like this to the tune of 9.50/133.76
Carl Gromeyer will long emember his first burnout in trick new Chevy Pro Mod car out of Lejune Engineering in Victoria. Ha managed to gather it in and run 9.03/143.44 with injected motor. Full tilt Pro Mod plans are in the works for later.
Gorgeous Plymouth has 'HemiRoid' license plates and ran very soft 10.69/129.88.
There are a bunch of neat Idaho cars here as these two show.
Amazing Jeepster ran an outstanding 10.53/120.28
Kerunsky's S-10 went 6.70/205.76 on first pass.
Kelowna's Keith Korecki is back with brand new 700 inch Ford-powerd nitrous Shelby after destroying previous car at hometown track almost two years ago. Ran an easy 7oh here.
Tervor Lowe was out with big West Coast Pro Mod number 1 of the window. He managed a 6.81/205.62 on tricky surface.
Trevor got real crossed up here as both vehicles had to shut off.
Richard Cross (right) against Korecky's Shelby. Cross is yet to make a full pass.
Way cool Plymouth wagon went 11.68/115.87
Rick Percell's Chevy sedan delivery kept the front end down this time out and ran 9.94, 136.15. Anyone with a pic or video of his giant wheelstand of last month is also welcome to pass it along for us to view.
Header Flamer Tom Posthma had his T-Bolt out, did big wheelie, got sideways in second gear and still pulled off a 11.25/122.03
Bitchin' Cheby Too went 9.55/138.61...and drove home.
Al Downs of the NW Nostalgia Top Eliminator Association is here along with four other slingshots.
Cool Camaro of Terry Spargo tripped the timers at 8.27/156.90
Derek Spratt's awesome Chevelle ran 9.30/148.90 in full street trim with big load of nitrous.
See you all tomorrow! LP
