We have long admired the work of Robert Briggs. HH managed to convince this socal truck driver to send us some of his work whenever he has the time. Shooting from the stands (something we hope to help him with later in the year) he often gets some wonderful images, but it is his pit photos that really shine. Utilizing a Nikon digital camera and exceptional use of flash fill, Robert has the patience required to get shots others have the chance to, but don't.

We thank Robert for sending these great shots from qualifying to us. We hope you do too.

Toyota/White Caps-sponsored Funny Car driven by Gary Scelzi has a very high tech Air Box at the 2002 Winternationals. Note the extra vertical 'fins' in the middle of the box. Plus, the angled horizontal wings coming off of the bottom rear of the car angled upward connecting to vertical fins protruding from the rear of the car. Rear tail lights are painted on the body as are the front head lights.
