Action for AA/GS. Mel Bryson lost control of his
beautiful '33 Willys, careened over and collided with
John Peterson's '69 Dodge Challenger in the lights at
200 mph. Both drivers escaped serious injury but
both cars were totalled.
SATURDAY MISC.
Brendan
Murry's AA/FD in the pits getting maintenance after
running 6.380 222.73 to snag the 15th position.
Dan Crisp
in his '69 Camaro B/Gas on a Saturday qualifying attempt.Didn't
make the show.
Ed Schwarz
in the 'Estrus' A/Fuel digger. Schwarz's 6.859 203.92
was good enough for an 11th place spot in the 16-car
field.
Bill
Galli's '66 Nova B/Gas launching hard on a Saturday
qualifying run.Bill didn't make the show.
'Speedy
Bob' Nevins in his '41 Willys just missed making the
show for A/Gas
Bryan
Gamaza's '65 Chevelle took the #2 spot in C/Gas qualifying
Saturday on a 9.60 index with a 9.603 lap.
Fly N Dutchman
in the staging lanes.

McDonald's C/Gas Nova ran a 9.774 on a 9.60 index but
needed to beat a 9.653 to get into a very tight field.

A/Fuel qualified 2nd with a 6.253 225.26 run with
the fuel injected hemi.
Mark Malde
qualified 11th for Top Fuel with a 6.253 225.26 run.
Malde lost to Rance McDaniel in Round One.Something
appears to be flying above the engine; looks like maybe
a spark plug socket?

Hammer qualified 9th in Junior Fuel with a 7.462 177.51
run. Hammer lost to Wayne Ramay in Round
One.
Steve
Dickerman didn't make the 16-car A/Fuel field but looked
good trying.
Jack Harris
on a qualifying run Saturday. Jack qualified 9th with
a 6.174 214.08 lap.
Mike Lockman
in Jack Harris' old AA/FD car (according to announcer)
just couldn't get it all together missing the 16-car

Fitzgerald's C/Gas Vega qualified 3rd with a 9.620 on
a 9.60 index.Monti lost in the first round.
Dave Gruzen
qualified the Mighty Mouse #4 in the 16-car field.Broke
