Remembering 1998

Just before the start of round one, the 1998 Division Six Champions were recognized and presented with jackets.

Also on hand (like always) to receive his 1998 Person of the Year' clock award was Louie Murray of the Safety Safari.

The 1999 Div. Six Certification Crew lined up for this early morning shot

Best Appearing Car

The Firebird Thunder Chicken...

Don't know whose car this was, here to be teched, but it has to be somebody's old body.

The Poison Dart Boyz from beautiful downtown Langley.

How is this for a first round match-up as eventual winner Bill Parmenter takes out the bigg AA Dodge of Hopkins.

Steve Wann set a new national mark with his C/SA Mopar at 10.875/120.74. He also nabbed the GT/TC mark in his '98 Dodge Pickup with a run of 10.882/120.70.

Howard Thomas was here from Wildomer, Ca. with his beautiful GT/EA Mustang. Qualified 9th at a 10.231 (-1.079) In fact eleven Super Stockers ran more than a second under here...along with 28 Stockers that did the same thing!

Another record setter was Jeff Lane who took the SS/CM mark down to 9.192/148.17.

Butch Walsh went to the semis in his SS/HA Camaro.

Dwight Deausy and Gary Williams in their first round race. The Canadian Olds went on to meet Walsh in round two.

Radford let it all hang out in round one with a losing, but unreal 7.29/190.59. Let's hope this team does all the T/C races! PS: We're still searching for the first six second car.

Hoerner took out Fuller in round one.

The ageless Camaro of Bob Israelson qualified 27th at 8.16/171.

The Davis Firebird that won here last year was driven at this event by new owner Kurt Cruise. Love that name.

C/EA of number two qualifier (5.509 -.561) Alan Freese from Monterey, Ca. gets out on former Ppro Stock Truck, now C/A of Simi Valley's Art Hedges in round one.

Joe Summers says g'bye to Carlson.

Talk about ageless, what can you say about the legend that is Jim Warter and the Joint Venture team?

Hentges (near) got by Shields in round one with a nice 5.69/245.56 to Shields' close 5.83/238.22.

Mike Strasburg of Lindon, Utah qualified number four at 5.79/234.61...

...then had this tight losing battle with Federlin in round one.

Melanie in a quite mement between rounds.

Bateman (No. seven 6.21/229) and john Hyland (No. two 5.05/229) started off round one with this great side-by-side burnout. Then in a fabulous race that saw Bateman lay down numbers like .466/6.05/232.85 just ahead of Hyland's .485/6.09/233.46.

These two ran together a few times this weekend. Think the Canuck was a little pumped in round one after this burnout?

Giuliani advanced with a stout 6.08/229.76.

It appears Bateman knew something as he had this smile on his face all day Sunday.

Winner of the unofficial Horsepower Heaven FMFC burnout contest was number one qualifier (5.94/237.96) Pure Insanity of Portland, Oregon's Dan McGlone.

Seen here in qualifying.

It was this close until mid track in round one of the fuel coupes.

Den cometh da GOrilla...

...and headed straight for the right guardrail milliseconds after this shot.

One of the best parts of the entire weekend was not seeing these fellows very often!

hey...iz dat guy winkin' at me?
