Saturday April 17, 1999 Page 2YO...Joe!
A big part of my weekend was meeting Joe Summers, seen here working the upper pit area. Joe is the Division Six distributor of Synergyn Products (Synergyn PNW). He shared a room with Rich an I and proved to be a very cool guy, who throughout the course of Saturday and Sunday not only shared his cooler and shaded lawnchairs with me, but introduced a number of his products. It was very interesting listening to him describe some of the amazing things he has inside that van, and it was especially eye-opening when he went into how some 'traditionalists' still cannot relate to how these various new-tech fluids work. It's only a matter of time however before everyone will come to understand that technology always progresses and makes things better. Joe will be at the Mission FMDRS, as well as most other major events in this region. Stop by, say hello and make sure your kids get a couple of those cool Synergyn PNW stickers. Joe is a neat guy, who can explain this stuff in down-to-earth terms and after spending a couple of days with him can assure you his products are well worth a look. Joe is online and checks his email every day. If you have any questions feel free to contact him at: |

Valentine was kept busy most of the day making out all those national record forms. He told me this was the most at any Div. Six event since Mission in 1976.

Paul Snell of Sandy Utah qualified 20th in Top Comp with a 7.97/171.82 in his '87 Camaro.

Number 18 qualifier in T/C was the '93 Olds of Dick Wemtz who ran 7.93/169.

Brandon Huhtala's '91 Cutlass was number 15 with a 7.88/177.

And Steve Cook of Rexburg, Idaho was number 29 at 8.21/161 with this cool roadster.

...sorry, I liked this car. Look for it at Mission.

Northridge California hitter Doug lambeck was here in the family's C/SM '90 Camaro. Qualified three at -.561 8.50 then went to the second round loosing to Robinson.

Look for Anderson's nitro car at Mission too.
Second in burnouts was Bateman in the Mopac Mopar.
Second alternate Hank Coolidge loosing a body hatch in qualifying.

Federlin is looking good.Ran solid 5.80's here all weekend long, only to lose to Santos power in semis.
My flight over companions included former jet tractor puller and old friend Randy Rymer on far left.

Hafner says he will play crew guy for the season...we'll see.

Hix just missed the show by a tenth.

Jett Field in the Bud car drew lots of cheers from local fans, but was not a factor here.

McHargue's fueler shows promise. Watch it at MRP in May.

I had the pleasure of running into Gary Ormsby Jr. later Sunday night and was very impressed with the driver of the world's quickest B1 (5.69/242). He's coming to Mission where this thing could fly. Chech out his website at www.garyormsbyracing.com. Clik here.

Parker is struggling in the sweet looking Got Milk car, despite a 6.07/231 here. If he finds the combo look out.

Santos putting rubber on my lens filter.

Shields drives gorgeous former GT car.
OK, here is the sequence we've all been waiting for. McDowell's test run on Saturday.
Car launched great...
started to haze the tires...
Then just at it reached the transition...
...decided to hook.
Hook HARD!
...and
do the things that these cars sometimes do.
Give the fans the hilight of the entire weekend!
No problem...
